On Ringo Lake–Rapid Fire Part 8!

We’ve stepped up the pace of this dance, and I hope you are happily boogieing along with me!

Everything we have been doing since Friday has all been in preparation of our big reveal to come.

I admit I try very hard to keep folks guessing as long as possible, often leaving out key elements until the reveal so no one could possibly guess things completely.

Keeping you guessing is all part of the fun!

I’m also looking at what is left to do, and it is time to step up the pace before my “time home” runs out and I hit the road again on January 8th.

No matter how fast and furious these preparatory clues are coming at you, please relax and remember this is NOT a race! You are welcome to work at your own pace for however long it takes.

Me, on the other hand…The sands of 2017 have nearly all hit the bottom of the hour glass and there is still much to come!

Your units will soon be placed to go together like this!

  ORL_BLock2

To be sewn together like this:

ORL_BLock1

Whooohooo!

Make 50!

((This should take you a while!))

Arrange units as shown. Join units into rows, pressing the top and bottom row seams out toward the corners, and the middle row seams toward the center nine-patch. The last two seams joining the rows should press toward the top and bottom rows of units. Blocks will measure 9 1/2’’ unfinished and finish at 9’’ in the quilt.

My blocks are happy to be showing their smiling faces!  Finally!

And yes, there is MORE aqua to come!  Wait for it…it’s happening soon!

Looking forward to all of the possibilities for incredible growth in 2018!

I knew it was going to be fabulous, & it is!! Three years ago, as I watched posts about the mystery quilt, I thought I could never do that. This is my second one, & I actually kept up this year. I’m certainly a better piecer because of you! Thank you! Happy New Year! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Bonnie, this is SO fun!!!! Loving the "rapid fire" clues :*). These blocks are gorgeous - I can't wait now to get caught up and make a few blocks. I love that this year's design has a level of complex piecing, but not so complicated that beginners can't play too. As always, THANK YOU for always ending our year with such a fun, exciting, free event! I never do mysteries anymore, but every year I look forward to yours with anticipation. I've realized that it's not even so much the sewing of the quilt itself (as fun as that is!), but it's really the feeling of being connected to the world - a world that you promote and provide to us - filled with inclusion and play and friendship and positivity. We definitely need more of that in our world today!!! May your 2018 be a marvelous one, packed to the brim with all you love best and blessings on you and yours πŸ’•πŸ˜˜πŸ’•

This is my second MQ with you and although I am way behind, I am loving it. As others have said, I have learned so much from you and my piecing has become so much better because of your dedication to us. You are amazing and I too feel that you are a genius. I hope you have a fantastic New Year and blessings to you and your loved ones.

I'm sew excited!!!!!! I love the blocks and the colors. Still working on part 5 but like you said, this is not a race. This beauty will be for my bed and will definitely be adding borders. Thank you Bonnie for this beautiful mystery and wishing you and your family a Happy New Year!

I am in love with this quilt! I cannot wait to get sewing this morning! Thank you so much, Bonnie! Wishing you the happiest of New Years!

I can tel it is going to be a magnificent quilt when done! Well done, master of the mystery Bonnie! My stack of clues is growing faster than my "done" pieces! I am still sewing clue 2 and am only half through it, but it will probably become my leader/ender in a month or so and that is fine. Aiming to have it done before next mystery time comes around!

Deloris said...

Oooooo, even more beautiful than I had imagined! My daughter in law is going to love it . . . IF I can stand to give it to her! Thank you so much for all the joy you bring to so many of us.

Theresa Maendele said...

I am behind as I had 2 others quilts I was making for Christmas gifts. They are done and gifted!! I have part 1 done and am now working on cutting all parts and pieces for the rest of the parts and I had an idea, if I get all parts and pieces cut I can then make this into a leader and ender project! 2 for 1 I like it! Thank you Bonnie for all you do for all of us quilters out here. Happy New year to you and yours.

Just stunning! I love the rapid fire conclusion this year. Thank you so much for the time that went into this. I loved your note about why it is done at this time of year and I was grateful for your gentle request that no one spoil the ending. That needed to be said.

I love it. Yours are absolutely stunning. Here's hoping mine are too.

Bonnie, love the block reveal today. All pieces cut out, step 1 completed, and bits of steps 2-7. Am sewing it on my newly acquired 50's Domestic machine! Not anticipating it will take long to finish with concentrated chain piecing. Hoping 2018 will bring to you much to be grateful for and time for yourself when needed.

Pegasus said...

I LOVE, LOVE this layout! I’m so excited to finish it. I had planned to only do half of the quilt, but I just may change my mind. Thank you, Bonnie

LOL, you weren't kidding when you said fast and furious were you. Love it.

Loving the way this mystery quilt is looking. I did not start out making it, but I plan to add it to my list of many others. I was trying to remember, if there is a special ruler you recommend we purchase. I thought there was something that you sold, and if so, I certainly want to get on board and get it ordered. So please let me know if there is a ruler I need to get. Thanks Bonnie. Loving how this quilt is turning out. Have the perfect fabrics in mind for it.

Brit Schjelderup said...

Happy New Year everybody. What a beautiful block! I am looking forward to the link-up! And I hope you get some well-deserved time off this week-end, Bonnie 😍

Mary Wal said...

This is my second mystery quilt. I purchase the essential ruler for this mystery. I was trying to not purchase anymore rulers. OMG this ruler is amazing. Wish I had it last year. I started 2 nights ago. Made couple of parts 1-6. Worked on ironing and cutting strips. A little more cutting then petal to the metal. Happy New Year 2018.

Helen said...

I love the border on this. I have pieced 16 of the 50 blocks. A bit more stitching to do, lol.

Everything was spot-on perfect at our wedding. And this was due in large part to the manager and the amazing staff at Los Angeles wedding venues. Very professional staff, incredible food, spectacular view and when you felt like a guest at your wedding it cannot get any better.
